Webinar Trailer!

This seminar is in sections - Linda first interviews her students - about race, beliefs and working with her.  The second section explores the notions around positive training specifically and the final segment comprises of conversations with parents and the thinking and beliefs they held, explored and any changes working together has wrought.  There will be a Q and A session after each session with a longer Q and A  and discussion at the end of the presentation. Coming together is how we will learn, and get stronger - the work you do in this seminar will support your knowledge,  and actions in the future.

Linda Randall, DVM, companion animal veterinarian and owner of One Smart Dog, a training center in Seville, OH, is Black, and works with children and their families in an overwhelmingly white community. Through interviews with her students and their parents, Linda explores how they perceive the dynamic of race in the training session,  looks at whether positive reinforcement affects their lives outside of dog training, and, in age-appropriate ways, digs a little deeper into the possible effect exposure to positive instruction through the use of TagTeach principles along with positive reinforcement for their dogs may have on  their perception of race and power in their social, school and family lives.

Linda, who has taught school in Poughkeepsie NY and in Nigeria, is known for her joyful yet detailed manner of instructing kids working with their dogs. She has taught many successful junior competitors, including an Agility National Canine Performance Event Junior Champion. Her students sing, dance and laugh a lot in her lessons.

Adam Skandarani

Adam has been working with dogs professionally as a pet care professional, photographer, judge and as a trainer. They have worked mostly with pet dogs but have recently been developing a  system for raising well-rounded sport and pet dogs. Living with and loving two boxers who are very different to each other has expanded their knowledge base and motivation to keep learning and sharing.

Adam's experience training cats and parrots add depth to their understanding of the importance of positive training.
