Recording Available now!

(Dr. Tom Harrison presenter/ Ayoka Bubar moderator)

This webinar provides an introduction to ethics generally and specific considerations of the ways we need to consider our moral positioning and ethical compass when working with and enjoying our animal companions.  A history of animal welfare,  animals in courts,  how non-humans can have rights - this fascinating look at law, history, politics and philosophy gives you lots of information to improve your critical thinking around issues, near and dear to all animal lovers.

Join Tom  and Ayoka in this fascinating look at the intersection of Humans, Animals, Ethics and Morals.

Who has the copyright when an animal takes a selfie? When and why have animals been put on trial?

How do we assign value to different lives and what does that say about us?

This compelling and important lecture was followed by a wide-ranging discussion and answers to thoughtfully articulated questions.

Hone your critical thinking skills, bring your questions and curiosity!

Tom Harrison (presenter)

Thomas Harrison is a  member of the Canadian Association of Legal Ethics. His Ph.D. was on the independent role of lawyers and judges in Canada's court system. He has taught ethics at the Queen's University School of Law and Animal Law and Issues in the Animal Care Program at Durham College.  With horses, dogs, cats, parrots and chickens at home Tom's personal experience with animals has informed his understanding of the theory behind ethics and their application to the animal world in a very practical and informed way

Ayoka Bubar (moderator)

Ayoka is a  CPDT - KA and an approved Canadian Association of Rally Obedience (CARO) Judge. She has been a  dog training instructor since 2008. Training and showing in a variety of performance venues including agility, tracking, herding, and rally obedience and conformation has really helped her understand the way breaking things down and seeking clarity in instruction and competing can lead to success.

Rottweilers are her passion and her two beautiful girls are herding, and playing other sports with joy and success.
